Liz Thompson

Liz is the National Education Manager for Janome Canada and the Managing Editor of  Janome Life. This popular blog offers the latest sewing machine information and inspiration to sewers and quilters around the world. At the age of nine she began her sewing journey by creating fun garments and clothing for her dolls. Ever since then Liz has been making her own clothes, including her wedding and bridesmaid’s dresses. With nearly 30 years of working in the sewing and quilting industry, Liz loves to share the knowledge she has gained with others. She is passionate about all forms of sewing, especially quilting, garment sewing and bag making. Her biggest challenge is finding enough time to complete the many projects she has buzzing in her head or in her multiple fabric stashes.

Michael Smith

As National Consumer Education Manager, Michael develops and teaches a variety of classes from the Janome Sewing and Learning Centre in Oakville, Ontario. From an early age, Michael expressed his creativity, imagination, and flair for design; particularly when creating new fashions and hairstyles for his sister’s Barbie dolls. Following two diplomas in Fashion Design, his career path took a detour when he discovered his passion for quilting and has, for many years, maintained a successful long-arm quilting business (The Sewcial Quilter) from his home studio. Often described as a “social butterfly”, Michael is excited to meet new friends while teaching sewing, quilting and all things Janome; or, as Michael simply puts it, to “share in the Janome Love!”

Michael regularly hosts Instagram LIVE presentations on the Janome HQ Instagram page, which are later posted as videos on the Janome HQ You Tube channel.

Erin Aumack

Erin began sewing at the age of 9 under the direction of her mother and a book series called, "I’ll Teach Myself". As a preteen she quickly progressed to making dresses and skirts. Then as a teenager she made her first quilt (a paper pieced double size - LOL). Sewing is a big part of her daily routine where she tries to create something new every day. Erin firmly believes that sewing is a cheap form of creative therapy, until she started a fabric stash! As a gifted maker, she loves to teach others about the joys of sewing and quilting. This love for sewing has had an influence on her teenage daughter who routinely sews alongside. There is always something new to learn in the textile industry and we are happy Erin is a part of the Janome Education family.

Anne-Margaret Vose

Anne-Margaret received her first sewing machine for her 10th birthday from her Dad. She attended sewing classes and spent a lot of time sewing with her Aunt. Over the last 40 years she has made clothes, crafts, her weddding dress and her daughter's graduation dress. In the past 5 years she has gotten into quilting and is loving it, having created over 100 quilts for friends and for charity! Anne-Margaret is very excited to be a part of the Janome family and looks forward to meeting you at her next Janome event.

Amanda Brown

Sewing wasn’t always a part of Amanda’s career path but when she was expecting her first child and decided to make a blanket, her whole world changed. After falling in love with a quilt in the local sewing store, Amanda signed up for her first quilt class and has never looked back. In 2011 she started Fabric Heart, a custom quilt company, and in 2018 founded the Canadian Modern Quilt Collective. Amanda is an enthusiastic teacher and loves sharing all her sewing knowledge!

Monique Trudel

Monique is our bilingual educator and an award-winning quilt maker and pattern designer from Glengarry County in Eastern Ontario. Her first love is sewing and watching quilt blocks come alive. She enjoys every step of the quilting process: designing the pattern, choosing the fabrics, selecting the colours, finalizing the layout and finally quilting the piece on a long arm machine. She has been sewing and quilting for over 25 years. Monique has a love for anything textile from cotton, linen, leather, wools and more. Monique has a successful long arm business as Apple Hill Quilting and Designs for the past 8 years. She is the founder and active member of the local Highland Quilters Guild.
